The Cross Academy is famous for its strict and strange procedures: students attend classes in shifts. During the day, ordinary students, after sunset, an elite night class, sleek handsome men in dazzling white uniforms. Of course, schoolchildren should not know that night students are vampires.

In order to keep the secret and ensure the safety of the day course, the foster children of the rector of the academy (Yuki, adopted by him, and the orphan Zero, taken into care) perform the duties of elders. They are required to stop any contacts between students of different streams. And this is not easy to achieve, because high school girls are so attracted to beautiful night students ... and vampires are not averse to getting to know high school girls better!

Summary

The Cross Academy is an elite school with two separate classes, isolated from each other: Day and Night. The prefects of the academy, Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu, are charged with maintaining order among the students when classes alternate in the evening. The Night class is filled with extremely impeccable students who are considered elite, and it is not always easy to achieve order, because the entire Day class is crazy about Night students. However, there is a vital need for this, given that this so-called elite consists of vampires. Yuki and Zero act as guards, protecting the secrets of the Night Class and protecting the ignorant Day Class.

Yuki, the adopted daughter of the rector of the academy, takes up the work seriously and with dedication. Not least because this is what allows her to interact with her secret lover and savior — the head of the dormitory of the Night Class Kaname Kuran. On the other hand, Zero, who harbors a deep—rooted hatred of vampires and at this stage will not stop even before killing…

Will humans and vampires be able to coexist at least in the strict rules of the Cross Academy? Only time knows the answer.

The main characters

Kaname Kuran

A pure-blooded vampire, the founder of the Kuran clan. Parents are Haruka and Julie Kuran. Kaname saved Yuki from a vampire who attacked her when she was five years old. He is the president of the night class and the commandant of the Lunar Dormitory, he is feared and respected by the rest of the night class students. He plays a dominant role, as he is the last of the noble family of pure-blooded vampires Kuran. It was because of him that many scions of noble vampire families decided to enroll in the Cross Academy. He is always somewhat cold and distant with his classmates, but kind and affectionate with Yuki. He has been taking care and protecting her in every possible way since he saved her, and this has its own romantic meaning (he always tells Zero that he allows him to live only because he is useful to Yuki). He is somewhat jealous of Zero, because he knows that he is also not indifferent to Yuki.

Yuki Cross

The adopted daughter of the director of the Cross Academy, she is 16 years old. Yuki is a member of the school's disciplinary committee, which provides Guardians to the school. She is cheerful and carefree, and thanks to her work as a Guardian, she is able to stay in the most unpredictable situations. Ten years before the events of the series began, Yuki was attacked by a vampire. Kaname killed him, saved Yuki, and brought her to Director Cross. Yuki did not remember anything about her life before this event and stayed with the director, becoming his adopted daughter. There is a certain fear of Kaname in Yuki, because he is also a vampire, like the one who attacked her, although she feels a sense of love for him. At the same time, Yuki is bound by a strong friendship with Zero. From the very moment he appeared in her life, she wanted to help and support him. When the vampire in Zero wins, Yuki gives him her blood, hoping to save Zero from madness. Yuki's blood attracts vampires more than anyone else's.

Her choice of weapon fell on Artemis, the staff given to her by the director of the Cross Academy.

At the beginning of the manga, she looks like a rather infantile teenager, but during the development of the plot she is forced to grow up very quickly. She thinks that Kaname's feelings for her are not too deep - "I am like a beloved puppy or kitten for him", fully realizes that "they are from different worlds" and "the gap between them is very deep".

At some point, she realizes that Kaname is connected to her erased childhood memories, and with the help of Zero tries to find out her past, but Kaname is in no hurry to reveal her cards and sets a condition for Yuki: She had to accept his feelings, and then he would tell her the truth.
